Subject: Cultureguide.gr portal shut down by Greek Government!

Colleagues:
This is further to the news I gave you at our Culture.mondo roundtable that the Greek cultural portal, cultureguide.gr which wanted to attend our gathering, was under substantial pressure from its government.
We have now received a report that the rest of the staff have been fired and the portal initiative shut down. See the below blog report which has been listed on Culturescope.ca.
It will be posted soon on Culturemondo.org, but given our agreement that portal advocacy was an important role for our informal Network, I thought it would be important for all of you to be informed. I leave it up to each of you to react as you feel appropriate.
